Infrastructure Upgrade

Enabling Childcare Homes to meet basic standards of safety, sanitation, hygiene and space utilisation

Background

Access to a hygienic, stable home plays a crucial role in the health and well-being of children. A safe and child friendly environment allows participation in social, educational, economic and community aspects of a child's life and fosters autonomy as an individual.

A majority of Child Care Institutions receive little to no funding for infrastructure maintenance, due to which they struggle with upkeep of their facility. Whatever little resource they can spare goes into stop gap solutions like fixing a leaking roof or overflowing septic tank which is top priority, and they often do not have the expertise or resources to ensure a child-centered design for the space.

Program Description

We renovate existing children's homes by improving its design and facilities across key areas like the kitchen, toilet complex, dormitory, study and recreational space to ensure children have a clean, safe, child-friendly home that has a positive influence on their well-being.

The program starts with conducting a need assessment of the children's homes that require an infrastructure upgrade, creation of scope of renovation & the design keeping in mind the stakeholder's requirements, cost estimation with use of material that will ensure durability and cleanability of the space, identifying a sponsor for the project and execution of the program via partnerships with architects & contractors.
