About The Role:

As the Communications & Marketing Specialist, you will manage our external communications. You will promote a positive public image and control the dissemination of information on Guardians’ behalf. Phenomenal communication and copywriting skills make a strong communications specialist.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a strategic communications plan that maintains brand integrity, amplifies Guardians’ programs, mission, values and vision.
• Create and adhere to the Guardians’ brand guide, ensuring that we produce a high-quality and error-free copy.
• Manage inter-departmental communications and flow of information.
• Create and update content for various communication purposes in collaboration with program staff and fundraising team to ensure information and descriptions are current and accurate.
• Create social media content and manage, post and moderate Guardians’ social media accounts. Run online campaigns for recruitment and fundraising purposes when required.
• Update, moderate, maintain and publish content for Guardians’ website.
• Research and write content for donor communications, infographics, blogs, and newsletters.
• Manage and execute mass emailing and newsletters.
• Manage and execute design of merchandise and printed and digital materials including annual reports, flyers, brochures, posters, invitations, programs, and letterhead.
• Track, analyze and evaluate communications data. Support building a strategic communications outreach that reaches target audiences.
• Collaborate with external partners for any communications related work.
• Assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership

Preferred Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in communications, journalism/media, creative and/or marketing.
• Experience in copywriting and editing.
• Proven social media and networking expertise.
• Experience supporting leadership and working in a collaborative environment.
• Content writing experience for all media platforms.

Skills and Abilities:

• A target-driven high performer excited about opportunities that have space for entrepreneurial energy and growth prospects.
• Ability to hold conversations with senior leadership, communicate effectively and manage various stakeholder groups.
• Expertise in Online Express, WordPress, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premier Pro, Canva, Mailchimp, Excel, Word, SharePoint and MS PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of video-editing software is an asset.
• A broad understanding and interest in childcare, youth development, education, and/or social justice.
• Google Ad experience and sharp photography and videography skills a plus.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
• Outstanding organizational and planning abilities.
• Proficient command of English.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and prioritize appropriately in a fast paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• A portfolio of work available for review.
